Pescarolo and his green helmet

Henri Pescarolo, born 25 September 1942 in Paris, enjoyed an incredible 35 year professional career competing in F1, endurance racing, Rallye Paris-Dakar and even helicopter racing!

Famous for his casque vert (green helmet), he won Le Mans in 1972, 1973, 1974 (Matra) and 1984 (Joest Porsche), Pesca also started 57 Grand Prix for the Matra, Williams, March, BRM and Surtees teams, scoring a best result (3rd) at the 1970 Monaco Grand Prix in a Matra.

Pescarolo and his distinctive green helmet, also a winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 1000 km of Monza, Spa and of the Nürburgring, was later also in charge of his own successful team over a decade, nurturing many talented French drivers including Benoit Treluyer, Simon Pagenaud and Sebastien Bourdais.
