Dan Gurney passes in front of his pits aboard his Eagle (picture-above) and is updated on his position by his mechanic Jo Ramirez during the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix held at Spa-Francorchamps. At this point of the race, he’s leading with an advantage of 31 seconds over the second placed car.

Jo Ramirez is a Mexican former mechanic and coordinator for several Formula One teams, including Eagle, Tyrrell, Copersucar Fittipaldi and McLaren. He was present in no less than 479 Grand Prix and contributed in 116 Formula One Grand Prix victories. A legend of the paddocks.

The American Dan Gurney thus won the 28-lap race in his Eagle-Weslake. Jackie Stewart finished second for BRM and Ferrari driver Chris Amon came in third. One should know that the Eagle was a single-seater built in the US, by Dan Gurney’s team. It will remain the only Grand Prix victory for this elegant car (picture-below).
