Two races for Ligier
Franck Lagorce here driving the Ligier JS39B – Renault V10 at Suzuka (Japanese Grand Prix) in 1994. The French driver, who finished 2nd in F3000 that year, debuted with a 20th place on the grid, just half a second shy of team mate Olivier Panis. Unfortunately, Lagorce’s race ended on lap 10 after a collision with the Minardi of Pierluigi Martini.
Frank Lagorce (born 1 September 1968) won the 1992 French Formula 3 championship before competing in Formula 3000 for the next two years, winning four races and finishing the 1994 season in second place. A Ligier test driver, he was chosen to drive the last two races of the 1994 Formula One season when Johnny Herbert moved to Benetton. He finished eleventh in Australia but was not retained by Ligier for the following season.
Lagorce participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans ten times, finished 7th overall and second in LMP1 in 1996 driving a Courage C36, then finished 5th overall in 1998 in a Nissan R390 GT1 (picture-below).
