In 1977, the young hopeful Alain Prost, who was dominating the Formula Renault Europe, was called to make his debut in Formula 2 at the wheel of a modest Kaushen (in fact, an ancient Elf2 J) at Nogaro and Estoril, but the car wasn’t enough competitive for him to shine.

The French driver was then going to successfully race in Formula 3, with a national title in 1978, followed by a European crown in 1979, just before reaching the Formula One and avoiding the F2 trap, with the exception of one outing in a Fred Opert entered Chevron at the 1978 Pau Grand Prix.
