“I can beat them all”
Nigel Mansell, the 1992 Formula 1 Drivers’ World Champion and winner of 31 F1 Grand Prix once declared: “I consider myself one of a very small handful of drivers in the world that are top drivers.“
He added: “Am I better than Senna, Prost or Piquet ?” It’s very hard to be sure about that. But on my good days, am positive I can beat all of them. The best one ? I don’t think anybody can say they’re the best ones because, from one week to next, you can be on form or off a little bit.”
For me, Nigel Mansell definitely was one of the bravest and fastest of his era. And what an era. The era of the giants: Senna, Prost, Piquet and… Mansell. His spectacular sense of attack, his speed, his commitment was second to none and indeed, he was unbeatable on his day.
