Simon Pagenaud, in a splash!
When Simon Pagenaud made a daring and brillant pass on Scott Dixon in the wet just two laps before the checkered flag, and went on to win the 2019 Indy Grand Prix last Saturday, he reminded everyone how good a racer he still is.
The Frenchman did not have a victory since Sonoma at the end of 2017, where he finished second in the championship, just a year after clinching the title.
Starting 8th on the grid, in a race that went from dry to wet conditions, Pagenaud charged through the field in the no.22 Menard Team Penske car, to score his 12th IndyCar victory with a fantastic move on Dixon, and beat him by 2.046 seconds.
“Am so proud of the car 22 team”, said the winner on Victory Lane, “we beat everyone fair and square today, am so happy to keep the trophy in the Penske family, it’s a wonderful way to start the month of May”.
