Rupert Keegan (picture-above) with engineer Nigel Stroud, in the Hesketh 308E/3 he was driving at the 1977 Dutch Grand Prix held on the Circuit van Zandvoort. Rupert was the only Hesketh driver able to (just) qualify for the race, in 26th spot, leaving both Ian Ashley and Héctor Rebaque as mere spectators. Keegan’s weekend was nevertheless soon over, as he crashed on lap 8!
Rupert Keegan (26 February 1955 – 23 September 2024) was an English racing driver. Fast and reckless in F3 and with the looks of a rock star, many saw in him a potential successor of (1976 Wolrd Champion) James Hunt. He then participated in 37 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 8 May 1977. He scored no championship points.
