The ‘good old days’ of the British F3
Rupert Keegan, in full attack mode on the curb stone of the Thruxton chicane, in his British Air Ferries Racing Team March 743-Toyota, followed by Bruno Giacomelli in opposite-lock in his works March 763-Toyota Novamotor, or the good old days of the British BP Formula 3 Championship, in 1976 (picture-above).
Keegan, who sadly recently passed away after a long illness, won this Thruxton race, and later in the season switched to a Chevron B34 (picture-below), while Giacomelli was forced to retire on lap 13, gearbox broken, but went on to win many races and dominate the F2.
The Brit, a colourful character, so promising, but maybe too impatient and well-funded by his father’s BAF company, will skip the F2 and move up straight into the F1, competed in 37 Grand Prix in modest teams and failed to score any championship point.
