Chris Amon Racing
Chris Amon Racing, was a Formula One team established by New Zealand driver Chris Amon. It competed as a constructor in its own right with Kiwi Chris Amon and Australian Larry Perkins (picture above, at the Nürburgring) in the 1974 Formula One season.
The Amon AF101-Cosworth, designed by Gordon Fowell and Tom Boyce, followed the Lotus 72 in some areas of construction, with sophisticated torsion-bar suspension and side radiators. It was the only Formula One car built by Amon Racing, but proved tragically uncompetitive.
Chris Amon succeeded to qualify only twice for a Grand Prix, at the back of the grid, but both times had to retire the car with mechanical problems. Larry Perkins made one appearance next to Amon at the German Grand Prix on the Nürburgring, but both cars failed to qualify.
Chris Amon (picture below) again failed to qualify for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in September 1974. That signalled the end of both car and Chris Amon Racing, leaving Amon to close down the team when the money ran out.
