Indianapolis 1965.

It was definitely Clark’s year, with a convincing victory for Team Lotus, with a total of 190 laps led.

The “British Invasion” as the Americans called it, finally broke through as Jim Clark and Colin Chapman triumphed with the first rear-engined Indy-winning car, a Lotus 38 powered by Ford.

Young Mario Andretti (picture above), driving his Hawk-Ford, very at ease for his first ever visit of the Brickyard, ran no lower than 6th all day and finally came home third, won the Rookie of the Year award.
