When Hulk was on pole

Interlagos 2010 : Nico Hulkenberg amazes everyone and puts his Williams on pole for the 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix.

A fabulous qualifying session on Saturday in wet and drying conditions, saw a young Hulkenberg, 23 years old at the time, take his first and probably only, Formula 1 pole of his career.

Williams’ Hulkenberg coud not believe it when he saw his name on top of the provisional grid. It was a first pole for the team since 2005.

What should be known is that Nico’s performance was such that his two best laps would have put him on pole.

“Nico was better than all of us today,” said Sebastian Vettel, and Mark Webber agreed that Hulkenberg’s performance “made the rest of us look average.”

It’s hard to believe the German with now 175 Grand Prix behind him, could never score a podium finish.

It is even harder to believe that such a fast and reliable driver, does still not have a Formula 1 drive for 2020.
