Nico Hulkenberg impresses everyone by putting his Williams on pole position for the 2010 Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix held at Interlagos.

A fabulous qualifying session on Saturday in wet and drying conditions, saw a young Hulkenberg, 23 years old, take his first and so far only, Formula 1 pole of his career.

Williams’ Hulkenberg could not believe it when he saw his name on top of the provisional grid. He declared: “I gave it all, but didn’t expect pole!” It was a first pole for the team since 2005. What should be known is that Nico’s performance was such that his two best laps would have put him on pole.

The two Red Bull drivers in second and third, were impressed:   “Nico was better than all of us today,” said Sebastian Vettel, and Mark Webber agreed that Hulkenberg’s performance “made the rest of us look average.”

In the race, both Vettel and Webber overtook Hulkenberg at the start, and went on to score a great 1-2 for Red Bull Racing. Hulkenberg was not able to defend his position at the top and finished in eighth position.

It’s hard to believe that the excellent German with now close to 200 Grand Prix behind him, has yet to scored a podium, let alone a victory, in F1.
