Spare wheel

End of 1967, Chris Amon had convinced Ferrari to prolonge the career of the sublime 330 P4 in the popular Can-Am series, where a spyder version was entered by the NART (picture above) for the Kiwi at Laguna Seca, where he finished a good fifth.

Jonathan Williams also raced it at Riverside and Las Vegas, as well as Pedro Rodriguez one year later at Bridgehampton. Then the car was sold to Paul Hawkins for him to race it in Australia at Surfers Paradise, before being further sold to David Piper, who entered it in South Africa and Mozambique in 1969.

For regulatory reasons, in order to be homologated in Groupe 7, the spyder, now 350 P4 Can-Am, powered by a 4 litres V12, had to be fitted with a spare wheel (picture below) and a passenger seat… Funny view, but a little sacrilege for one of the prettiest cars in history!
