The works Porsche 956’s dominate the 1984 World Endurance Championship, the competition is essentially composed of the works Lancia’s and of privately-entered Porsches.
At the 1000 km of Spa a third Rothmans-livered car is entered for Vern Schuppan and John Watson alongside the usual pairings of Stefan Bellof-Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx-Jochen Mass, thus transforming the quatuor into a sextet (picture above).
It’s the number 2 car of Bell and Bellof (picture here-under) that won the race, where one year later, sadly, the young German driver lost his life…
