Monaco Grand Prix 1950. Louis Chiron powers by in his Maserati CLT/48, at the entrance of the tunnel. These were the days ‘when you could enjoy the Monaco Grand Prix, sitting on a bench’ (picture above).
The 100-lap race was won by Juan Manuel Fangio for the Alfa Romeo team, after starting from pole position. Alberto Ascari finished second for Ferrari and Louis Chiron, third for Maserati.
Chiron’s 3rd-place finish made him the only Monegasque driver to score points in Formula One until Charles Leclerc finished sixth in his Sauber in the 2018 Azerbaidjan Grand Prix, some 68 years later! (picture below).
