Siffert joins March
Jo Siffert joined the new March team founded by Max Mosley, Robin Herd, Alan Rees and Graham Coacker for the 1970 Formula One season. The Swiss ace is seen here-above in the cockpit of his STP-livered March 701-Ford. In endurance racing where he excelled, he was still one of the lead drivers for Porsche.
The March 701-Cosworth was sometimes competitive in the hands of Jackie Stewart (winner in Spain in a Ken Tyrrell-entered car) and Chris Amon (second in Belgium), but Siffert, already a Grand Prix winner at this stage of his career, was not able to score any championship point, and at year end, left the team and joined the Yardley Team BRM for the 1971 season.
