In a one-off appearance, Jochen Rindt pushes the fragile yet striking Ford P68, entered par Alan Mann Racing, during practice for the 1968 BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch (picture-above).
Despite limited pre-race testing – where even Bruce McLaren noted its instability – the sleek but aerodynamically flawed prototype showed flashes of speed, with Rindt and Mike Spence qualifying 9th.
However, the P68’s reputation for fragility held true, as a broken driveshaft prevented Rindt’s car from even taking the start, marking another frustrating chapter in its brief and troubled campaign. Picture here-under, Mike Spence at the wheel.
