After having come close to the feat in 1980 at the Nürburgring in Formula 2 by taking a fantastic pole position in the rain, before his wing mast collapsed in the race, preventing him to finish the job, Richard Dallest (picture-below), was going to take revenge a few weeks later by winning at Zandvoort.

At the wheel of his modest AGS JH17, the Marseille native lead the field from start to finish in the dunes, on a very wet track (picture-above), proving his immense natural talent, but it would be the last victory of a career that deserved better for the one that was the equal in the feeding series of the best French driver of his generation (Arnoux, Pironi, Prost etc…).
