After driving in F1 for Lotus and BRM, Jackie Oliver contributed in the creation of the Shadow team and drove the DN1 as soon as 1973 in Montjuich (picture-above), before leaving the Grand Prix to concentrate on the well-funded Can-Am series and amass enough dollars.
He was seen on more time in F1 four years later, always with Shadow at the wheel of the DN8 that he drove to a ninth place finish in Sweden (picture-below), when he replaced Alan Jones the team’s lead driver, who had to compete in Can-Am. Oliver was at that time manager of Shadow, a team that he was going to leave one year later, to found the Arrows team.
