Watkins Glen, 1969 US Grand Prix. Ferrari entered one car only – under the NART banner, its American road cars importer managed by Luigi Chinetti – for Mexican star Pedro Rodriguez (picture-above).
The 108-lap race was won by Lotus driver Jochen Rindt after he started from pole position. It was the first Grand Prix victory for Rindt and the first ever for an Austrian, and it was well deserved, as Rindt had lead in five of the last nine races.
Piers Courage finished second for the Brabham team and BRM driver John Surtees completed the podium, while Pedro Rodriguez, Ferrari 312 V12 (picture-below) was classified 5th albeit 7 laps (!) behind the winner and scored two championship points.
