Excellent karting driver, Jean-Christophe Boullion, nicknamed Jules Boullion, moved to car racing in 1988. In 1990 he won the French Formula Ford title, and moved to Formula 3, showing speed and race craft. In 1993, he entered Formula 3000 and won the championship in 1994.

His successes in F3000 lead him to become test driver for Williams-Renault in Formula 1. He did a great job for Williams and so acquired a solid reputation in the paddock and was chosen by Sauber as a replacement for the still injured Karl Wendlinger, from the Monaco Grand Prix 1995 on.

Despite finishing in the points twice, but rarely matching his team-mate Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Boullion was asked after 11 races to return his seat to Wendlinger, when the Austrian was ready to race again. He returned to test once more for Williams.

The Frenchman later drove a Renault Laguna prepared by… Williams in the British Touring Cars Championship, and then moved on to become an excellent endurance driver in 2000.

He joined the Pescarolo Sport team, and together with Emmanuel Collard won the Le Mans Series in 2005 and 2006.
