Fabulous picture-above of three mega drivers from the 70s racing each other hard but fair: Patrick Depailler (Tyrrell 008) leads Carlos Reutemann (Ferrari 312T3) and James Hunt (Mclaren M26) in Argentina in January 1978.

The 1978 Argentine Grand Prix was held at Buenos Aires and was the first race of the 1978 Formula One season. The 52-lap race was won from pole position by American Mario Andretti driving a Lotus 78 that, fitted with side pods and skirts that generated so much downforce, had shown so much promise the previous season.

Austrian Niki Lauda, who had left Ferrari as a two-time World Champion, finished second in a Brabham-Alfa Romeo and Frenchman Patrick Depailler was third in the new Tyrrell 008, that replaced the troublesome P34 and its six wheels.

Divina Galica (picture-below), a British Olympic skier who also pursued a career in motorsport, tried to qualify aboard her Hesketh 308E, but failed: she ended up 27th and last, more than four seconds slower than the last of the qualifiers…
