Denny Hulme, seated in his McLaren M19C, is surrounded by part of the McLaren family, just before the 1972 French Grand Prix, held at the Circuit de Charade, Clermont-Ferrand (pictured above).
Around the white and orange McLaren, we can see the mechanics Peter Davies, Phil Kerr, Barry Sullivan and Alastair Caldwell, as well as Pat McLaren, the widow of the late Bruce McLaren, founder of the team.
New Zealander Hulme, 1967 world champion in a Brabham car and a close friend of Bruce McLaren, qualified on the front row alongside poleman Chris Amon and his Matra MS120, but could only manage seventh in the race. Jackie Stewart (Tyrrell 003-Ford) took the win.
