The racing car constructor March was founded in the summer of 1969 by four partners (Max Mosley, Alan Rees, Graham Coaker and Robin Herd) and their first single-seater, the Formula 3 March 693, was sampled end of September by Ronnie Peterson at Cadwell Park (picture-above).
The up-and-coming Swedish hopeful, that one can recognise on the front row of the grid (picture-below) next to pole man Tim Schenken (Brabham) and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud (Tecno), finished as a brilliant third behind Schenken and Howden Ganley (Chevron), but in front of the Brabham of James Hunt and the Chevron of Reine Wisell.
