He was the very first Japanese driver to appear at the start of a Formula One race: it was at a non-championship race, the 1974 International Trophy at Silverstone in a March 741 (main picture).
Noritake Takahara participated in two Japanese Grand Prix at the Mount Fuji race track in 1976 (9th in a Surtees) and in 1977 (retired, accident) with the second Kojima (picture here-under), the first one being driven by Kazuyoshi Hoshino who finished in 11th position.
