Brave flag man
The 1971 British Formula 1 Grand Prix was held at Silverstone on 17 July 1971.The 68-lap race was won by Tyrrell driver Jackie Stewart, after he started from second position. Ronnie Peterson finished second for March (another great performance for the Swede) and Lotus driver Emerson Fittipaldi came in third.

On one of the fastest circuits of the calendar, where horsepower is so important, Clay Regazzoni, driving a Ferrari 312B2, powered by a flat-12 cylinder engine, gained pole position with an impressive lap, beating Stewart (Tyrrell) and Siffert (BRM) by a few hundredths of a second.
In the race, the two Ferraris of Regazzoni (picture below) and Ickx were forced to retire with engine problems and Stewart took a commanding home win and extended his lead in the championship to 23 points.
