The 1973 US Grand Prix was held at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Road Course on October, 7 1973. It was race 15 of 15 in both World Championship of Drivers and International Cup for Formula One Manufacturers.

Picture-above: Ronnie Peterson (Lotus 72) celebrates his fourth victory of the season on the podium, with James Hunt (second in his Hesketh 308) accompanied by his boss Lord Alexander Hesketh, with Carlos Reutemann third in a Brabham BT44.

It must have been a sad victory for the Swede as the race was overshadowed by the death of Tyrrell driver François Cevert during qualifying, the day before… Jackie Stewart, his team mate, withdrew from the race and announced his retirement from racing, having already clinched his third drivers’ title at Monza.
