The 1975 Sebring 12 Hours were always meant to be a battle between the two works BMW’s 3.0 CSL entered by BMW Motorsport and a series of well driven private Porsches Carrera RSR.
When the lead BMW #24 (picture above) of Hans Stuck and Sam Posey was forced to retire after 102 laps with a broken oil pipe, the two drivers were asked to join the #25 car of Brian Redman and Alan Moffat and try to resist to the assault of the Porsches, all through the night.
Mission accomplished: Redman/Moffat/Stuck/Posey brought the pretty and fast BMW 3.0 CSL called ‘Batmobile’ home with 3 laps advantage on the four chasing Porsches Carrera RSR.
