It was raining at the start of the 1969 Imola 500 km and one can see in this document here-above the Mirage M3 Cosworth of future winner Jacky Ickx in the downhill leading to the Acque Minerali hairpin, preceding the Alfa 33 of Andrea de Adamich, the Abarth 3000S driven by Arturo Merzario (photo here-under) and the Porsche 908 of Kurt Ahrens.
Ickx had captured pole position in front of the Italian cars and won easily with a 3 laps advantage on the Alfa 33 of Ignazio Giunti.
