Nelson Piquet, the Brazilian triple F1 World Champion, has always been known for his politically un-correctness, and for his straight-talking. Asked by Record Sunday about Felipe Massa’s crusade for his lost 2008 title and about Rubens Barrichello’s time at Ferrari, he answered in typical Piquet style: “Berger and Patrese, for example, were 1 second slower than the top drivers, and I never saw them go out in the press creating a sabotage theory, this or that.”

Nelson continued: “Alan Jones crashed into my car and I lost the championship to his bullshit, and Williams took my championship in 1986 because they favoured Mansell. Nevertheless, I never claimed a race or championship. Sometimes it’s better to be honest and admit that you weren’t a champion, than spend your whole life complaining, that’s how I see the shit Rubinho and Massa (picture-below) have constantly been talking about.”

Logically, Felipe Massa was not impressed, he said: “Nelson’s comments are unfair, am very disappointed (by him).” Obviously, good old Nelson has not changed, is not intending to: his opinions have the merit of clarity and fuel the debate, and that’s very fine for us.
