The 1980 British Grand Prix held at Brands Hatch was won by Alan Jones in a Williams FW07B. It was Jones’ third victory in a row, as he built his charge towards becoming the 1980 World Drivers’ Champion. Nelson Piquet (Brabham) finished second and Carlos Reutemann (Williams) third.
The day before, the top 5 qualifiers automatically gained a drive in the BMW M1 Procar race. This series supported the Formula One weekend at various European rounds of the F1 calendar but also branched out to hosting its own standalone events.
The five drivers were: (Picture above from L-R) Jacques Laffite, Didier Pironi, Alan Jones, Nelson Piquet and Carlos Reutemann who won the race.
