Jacky Ickx passes the wheel of his Ferrari 312PB to team mate Brian Redman, at theVallelunga 6 hours in 1973 (picture above). Epic battle for the World Championship of Makes in 1973 between Matra and the Ferrari. Usually, as here in Italy, the Matra-Simca MS670B had the upper hand on the Ferrari 312PB.
Cevert’s Matra engine blew around mid distance. He then joined Pescarolo and Larrousse to claim victory, in front of the 3 works Ferrari’s. Ickx and Redman, the fastest duo of the Scuderia, finished 3rd this time, behind the sister car of Schenken – Reutemann.
