Johnny Servoz-Gavin (1942-2006) here-above at Watkins Glen in 1969. At the wheel of his Matra MS650, with which he had participated the day before (with Pedro Rodriguez) in the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, did not hesitate to take on the big cubes of the Can-Am, the V8 monsters such as the McLaren, Lola, Chaparral and the Ferrari 612 6 liters, and finished ninth.
The French driver also participated in 13 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix between 1967 and 1970, qualifying in all but one. He achieved one podium, and scored a total of nine championship points. He drove for the Tyrrell Formula One team, mainly as Jackie Stewart’s teammate, then suddenly retired from racing, seemingly because of an eye injury.
