Each and every year, since this fateful 6 October 1973 at Watkins Glen, we remember François Cevert, a wonderful person and a very good racing driver that certainly had the potential to become a world champion.
“François Cevert was an incredibly good looking man and a great driver,” remembers his team mate and three-time Formula one World Champion Jackie Stewart. “Incredibly athletic, a very good tennis player… A charming person with impeccable manners. I mean, he did a lot of damage!”
Cevert competed in 47 Formula One Grand Prix, all for Team Tyrrell, achieving one win at the 1971 US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, 13 podium finishes and 89 career points. A great loss and a great sadness, even after all these years…
