Porsche flies in Austria

The Gulf-Porsche 917K #23 entered by John Wyer Automotive and driven by Jo Siffert and Brian Redman leads the red and white Salzburg-Porsche 917K of Vic Elford and Richard Attwood, during the 1970 Austrian 1000 km held at the Österreichring near Zeltweg (splendid picture-above by Walter C. Harbers II).

The John Wyer Porsches dominated the season with wins in 7 of 10 races (in addition to this race, Daytona, Brands Hatch, Monza, Targa Florio, Spa and Watkins Glen, and on top of that, the Porsche Salzburg prototypes won 2 more races, Nürburgring and Le Mans. Total domination indeed.

Jo Siffert and Brian Redman took a prestigious win in Austria (picture-below) for the Porsche factory team ahead of the Alfa Romeo T33/3-71 driven by Andrea de Adamich and Henri Pescarolo.
