Taylor, the driver with the yellow overall
At the end of 1962, Trevor Taylor shared with Jim Clark the car and victory in the non-championship Mexican Grand Prix, had a win and a second place at two non-championship events in South Africa, and was confirmed by Colin Chapman with Team Lotus in 1963. Taylor’s confidence though was shaken by two serious accidents at Spa (picture-above with Clark) and Enna-Pergusa, and it affected his performance level.
Trevor Taylor admired his team mate Jim Clark, he declared: “I raced against him, he was one of my contemporaries. But there was no way I could compete with him. He was born to it.” He also regarded Clark highly as a person, saying: “He would never do anything behind your back, he would rather help you than hurt you. He was a truly gentle character.”
