Stuck makes Lauda laugh!
Hans Joachim Stuck, twice a winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours for Porsche in 1986 and 1987, always preferred closed cars but achieved his dream of Formula One, racing 74 Grand Prix for March, Brabham, Shadow, and ATS in the 1970s. He even scored two podiums for Brabham, in Germany and in Austria in 1977.
In 1979 – picture above, sharing one of his jokes he was so fond of with Niki Lauda in Monaco – Hans Stuck was a very busy man: he participated in 12 Grand Prix for the ATS team and scored two championship points. He also started 9 races in the Procar BMW M1 Championship and 2 in the DRM series, while also agreeing to race a March 792-BMW, entered by the Polifac BMW Junior Team in Formula 2 (picture below).
A very busy schedule indeed, for one of the most eclectic drivers of his generation. A great champion and a super nice man.
