Sir Jackie turned 80

Sir Jackie Stewart, one of the all times greats, turned 80 yesterday. Nicknamed the ‘Flying Scott’ he competed in Formula 1 between 1965 and 1973.

He won 27 races out of 99 starts, winning three World Drivers’ Championships (1969, 1971, 1973) and twice finishing runner up over those nine seasons.

This photo was taken in 1968 when driving a Matra-Ford for Ken Tyrrell.

That year, he scored one of his most fantastic victories, when he won the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring in heavy mist, by over 4 minutes (!) over Graham Hill who finished second.
