Sensational Stirling Moss
Stirling Moss on his way to victory (picture-above) in his Aston Martin DBR1/300 that he shared with Jack Fairman, during the 1000 km Nürburgring 1959. The British champion drove superbly and after a seven-and-a-half hour race, edged out the two works Ferrari 250 TR59 of Phil Hill-Olivier Gendebien and Tony Brooks-Jean Behra to take a prestigious victory.
Note: This winning Aston Martin DBR1, was the one which also won Le Mans in 1959 driven by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby.
This Nürburgring victory was one of Moss’s greatest drive, driving 41 of the 44 laps and having to make up time lost while Fairman drove. Moss’s pace was so quick that his fastest lap of the race (picture-below), was faster than Behra’s pole lap by over five seconds! Sensational.
