Robert Manzon, last survivor

Robert Manzon (1917-2015) was a French racing driver. He started his career as a mechanic and after World War II he went racing.  The French driver participated in 29 Formula One Grand Prix, achieved two podiums, and scored a total of 16 championship points.

He scored points for Gordini at the 1950 French F1 Grand Prix, and finished sixth in the World Drivers’ Championship in 1952, taking third place in the Belgian Grand Prix.

After racing, Robert Manzon operated his own diesel equipment distribution business. He died at home in 2015 aged 97. He was the last surviving entrant of the 1950 Formula One season (picture below taken in 1955).
