The Porsche Carrera 906.6 of Hans Herrmann and Dieter Glemser precedes the Ferrari Dino 206S driven by Ludovico Scarfiotti and Mike Parkes through a Sicilian village during the very wet 1966 Targa Florio (picture-above). Both cars will later retire.
The 50th anniversary of the great race was marred by heavy rain that turned the roads into a quagmire. When the Ferrari 330 P3 of Nino Vaccarella and Lorenzo Bandini (at the wheel) slid of the road while leading, this paved the way of the victory for the factory-backed Scuderia Filipinetti Porsche 906 of Herbert Müller and Willy Mairesse (picture-below).
