Brazilian Carlos Pace had qualified in sixth for the 1975 Swedish Grand Prix held at Anderstorp, but retired on lap 42 on Sunday, when he spun his Gordon Murray-designed Brabham BT44B (picture-above), and was unable to restart.

The race was won by Niki Lauda driving a Ferrari 312T. He took a six-second victory over Pace’s team mate, Argentinian Carlos Reutemann. It was Lauda’s third consecutive win of the season after the Monaco and Belgian Grand Prix.

Pace’s 1975 season had started well, when on the second round in Brazil, he took an emotional win in his native São Paolo, his first F1 victory. Two podium finishes in Monaco and in Great-Britain (picture-below) took the Brazilian to sixth in the final drivers’ standings.
