Niki Lauda celebrates pole position for the 1974 Monaco Grand Prix with his mechanics. The Austrian, in his first year for Ferrari, gradually becomes the leader of the Scuderia Ferrari which is recovering from a disastrous 1973 season.
Under the technical leadership of Mauro Forghieri, who designed the new 1974 Ferrari 312B3, and the excellent technical feedback from the Austrian, Niki and Clay Regazzoni brought poles and victories back at Maranello.
Less luck in the race where Niki Lauda (picture here-under) led from pole but had to retire with ignition problems and the victory went to the brilliant Ronnie Peterson in his ageing Lotus 72. Regazzoni finished fourth.
