James Hunt participated in the Molson Grand Prix at Trois-Rivières in Québec (Canada) in September 1976, a very spectacular street race for Formula Atlantic cars. Hunt (picture above), was driving a March 76B and finished a fine third, behind Alan Jones (2nd) and race winner Gilles Villeneuve, who was unknown to the Formula One community at the time.
Upon his return in Europe, Hunt impressed with the young and so spectacular Canadian talent (picture below), recommended John Hogan (Marlboro) and Teddy Mayer (McLaren) to give him a chance in a Formula One car. We would soon discover a legend.
