In 1976, at the Canadian Grand Prix held at Mosport, Allan de la Plante took one of my favourite motorsport photos. L-R Ronnie Peterson (March 761), James Hunt (McLaren M23), Patrick Depailler (Tyrrell P34) and Mario Andretti (Lotus 77) race up the hill, right after the start. Notice how different and so easily recognisable the Formula One cars were these days.

The race was won from pole position by James Hunt in his McLaren M23-Ford. Patrick Depailler took another second place finish (his fourth of the season but still no victory) in his six-wheeler Tyrrell P34-Ford and Mario Andretti (Lotus 77-Ford) crossed the finishing line in third.

Ronnie Peterson who had jumped Hunt at the start in his March 761-Ford (picture-below), had a difficult race, slid down the order and ended up 9th.
