Jean-Pierre Jarier (white UOP Shadow) is alongside Brian Redman (Lola Haas) at the start of a F5000 race at Watkins Glen in 1975 (picture-above). Brian Redman (Lola T332-Chevrolet) is going to win the race (picture below) in front of Al Unser in a Vel’s Parnelli Racing Lola 332. Jarier and his team mate Oliver will have to retire their Shadow DN6-Chevrolet, with broken engines.

The 1975 SCCA/USAC Formula 5000 Championship was won by Brian Redman, driving a Lola T332 Chevrolet. The series was the ninth running of the SCCA Continental Championship and was jointly sanctioned by SCCA and USAC. It also became the SCCA’s flagship series in 1975 following the folding of the Can-Am series.
  • Dominant Lola:
The Lola T332, particularly when paired with the Chevrolet V8 engine, was a dominant force in the series.
  • Redman’s Championship:
Brian Redman’s victory in 1975 marked his second championship win in the series (picture-below).
  • Chevrolet’s Reign Ends:
While Chevrolet-powered cars had dominated previously, 1976 saw a Dodge-powered car win a race, marking the end of Chevrolet’s several-year winning streak.
  • Lola’s Dominance Ends:
After 1975, Lola’s dominance in the series began to wane, with March and Shadow cars winning events in the following year.
