Early 1974, Clay Regazzoni and Niki Lauda were briefly seen testing the car that was supposed to replace the very successful Ferrari 312 PB in the World Endurance Championship.

The prototype, designed by engineer Mauro Forghieri, was an evolution of the 312PB and was supposed to continue the battle with Matra in endurance.

A few laps at Fiorano test track, then the program was canned. After the 1973 Formula One season where the car built in England by Thompson was a disaster, it was decided Niki Lauda, Clay Regazzoni and the Scuderia Ferrari would concentrate all their efforts on Formula One only.

Ferrari will unfortunately be absent of the top category of endurance racing for the next… fifty years!
