James Hunt, the 1976 Formula 1 World Champion, had is own, very particular way of doing fitness training… a charismatic personality and a very fast and determined driver indeed. But he also took time to reflect on racing and its dangers and once declared:

“There’s a lie that all drivers tell themselves. Death is something that happens to other people, and that’s how you find the courage to get in the car in the first place. The closer you are to death the more alive you feel. But more powerful than fear itself, is the will to win.”

James Hunt won 10 Grand Prix, stood 23 times on the podium, scored 179 championship points and scored 14 pole positions in 92 starts. He looks mean and moody astride a motorcycle and smoking a cigarette (picture-below).
