Emerson is not distracted!
It was a hard fought 1974 Formula One Drivers’ World Championship. Fittipaldi (Mclaren M23), Peterson (Lotus 72), Reutemann (Brabham BT44) each won three races, with Lauda (Ferrari 312B3) and Scheckter (Tyrrell 007) two and Regazzoni (Ferrari 312B3), one.
Emerson Fittipaldi, not at all distracted by the Marlboro girls (picture above), and Clay Regazzoni (Ferrari) went into the last race, the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, level on points, but the Swiss driver quickly dropped down the field due to handling problems, and Fittipaldi was crowned with a 4th place finish (picture below).
It was the first of many world titles in the history of the McLaren Team and the second for the great Brazilian, who had been crowned two years earlier with Lotus.
