For those of you who speak French, let me present you this superb book written by José Valli about Patrick Tambay. No less than 550 pages to tell the story of this excellent driver, a gentleman of a person as well.

He is not the best known of the French racing drivers, nor the one with the most victories, but he had a life full of countless sporting adventures, spanning from skiing to Can-Am and Formula 1.

Of course, most of you remember his time (and his two victories) with the Scuderia Ferrari, when Enzo Ferrari chose him to ‘replace’ Gilles Villeneuve, after his tragic accident in 1982.

During his great career, Patrick Tambay drove for Ensign, McLaren, Surtees, Arrows, Carl Haas, Ligier, Ferrari and Renault. The author, José Valli, encouraged and published by Olivier Rogar, did a tremendous job to tell us all, a must read. And Mario Andretti (picture above) certainly agrees.
