Counter shot

In a fascinating and well organised ballet, like a perfect counter shot, Ferrari and Porsche had presented their new sports cars, respectively in the autumn of 1969, to the inspectors of the CSI (Commission Sportive Internationale): the 512S and the 917. Twenty five of each were built, to respect the homologation criteria and were going to become legendary during the following two seasons in the World Makes Championship.
At the Maranello factory (picture above), like in the courtyard of Züffenhausen (picture below), these extraordinary race cars were perfectly aligned, prior to the control of the technical commissioners. Note the presence of a lone yellow 512S, destined for the Écurie Francorchamps, the Belgian Ferrari importer.
